More playing around with rendering, this time in Maya with the Mental Ray renderer. I haven’t been able to get normal and spec maps working yet, but the diffuse is looking pretty good! Mmmm, cast shadows…
I am thinking I’d like to use Vor and Alad as face poser tests and do face rigs for them. In fact, I’d like to do full rigs for them, fingers and all, and see if I can’t do some actual animations… eventually……..

I finished 3 more textures on Wednesday’s stream: cracked stone brick, mossy stone brick, and water. The water is animated, it took like a million hours. It’s not perfect, it’s a bit busy… but hey it’s not bad!
I also edited the mossy cobble as per several people’s suggestions. Thank you for the feedback! It looks much better!

Lighter shading denotes what is still flesh, everything else is either technocyte or implants. My headcanon for these characters is that most of their flesh is simply gone: taken by the virus and transformed into metallic tissues. The only way he can keep (most of) his face intact is through injections in that little hole in his cheek. Also: I will never let go of robot jaw I’m putting robot jaw on everything ok I love robot jaw
He is not keen on removing his face coverings, as it leaves the last of his flesh exposed.

I had to get my concept out there before DE makes pretty pretty Two Queens for the Grineer.
The concept here is that it’s one person cut in half to serve two roles: military leader and diplomat. They share one heart and are connected via wires and hoses to a large room with a ton of Grineer tech inside, which they cannot leave. The character originally was human, of course, and over time had many implants and augments added to keep her alive. This was all after the… separation.
